Calling All Educators And Students To Build The Change And Share Ideas For The UN Climate Change Conference

Published

We are asking educators, camp counsellors, parents, adults and care-givers around the world to send us three simple sentences from children 8-12 which answer the question: "What three instructions would you give world leaders to protect our planet from climate change?“

Dear Educators,

Leaders from around the world will meet this November at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, UK to discuss and make decisions about how best to protect our planet from the effects of climate change.
The LEGO® Group wants to make sure that children also have their voices heard at this key event: after all, they are among the people most affected by the decisions being made. We will be present in Glasgow from 1-12 November 2021, running hands-on Learning through Play activities and events and showcasing children’s ideas for a better future.

We will also be creating a booklet called Building Instructions for a Better World to present to decision makers and other attendees at the conference. It will include simple instructions to world leaders from children around the world about what to do about the impending climate emergency… and that is where you come in!
We will combine the answers from around the world to produce a list of simple instructions to world leaders from children.

So run a workshop to help generate ideas with your students!
Find everything you need in the Course materials: Building Instructions for a Better World Workshop to run the workshop; a how-to guide, background climate change, COP26 and presentation materials.
The workshop is a collaborative discussion exercise which generates three instructions from children to decision makers on how to protect our planet from climate change.

Please send your children’s instructions to us by uploading them to: tinyurl.com/LEGOCLIMATEWORKSHOP
The instructions we receive before 15 September, 2021 will be used to make a booklet to be shared with world leaders, decision makers, and other attendees of the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, UK in November.

We hope you and your children will enjoy taking part. We cannot wait to hear what they come up with!
